About The Founder

My name is Nathaniel McKenzie, founder of Passport After Dark.

Before launching Passport After Dark, I spent more than 25 years as a Forensic CPA and financial investigator in New York, specializing in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, asset tracing, economic damages, business disputes, and complex financial analysis.

Throughout my career, I learned that successful investigations often came down to understanding people, risk, behavior, decision-making, and identifying facts that others overlooked. Those same analytical skills now influence how I approach travel research and destination reporting.

As a polyglot fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Khmer, I have been able to connect with people across diverse cultures and gain firsthand insights that go far beyond the typical tourist experience. Language has allowed me to better understand local customs, cultural nuances, and the realities travelers encounter in destinations around the world.

After decades of evaluating evidence, uncovering hidden information, and helping clients navigate complex situations, I developed a passion for international travel and global nightlife destinations. During my travels, I discovered that many online travel resources provided incomplete information, overlooked important safety considerations, and often failed to address the practical questions travelers actually want answered.

That realization led to the creation of Passport After Dark.

Today, I apply the same investigative mindset that guided my forensic accounting career to researching nightlife districts, travel destinations, local customs, pricing, tourist safety concerns, relationship scams, entertainment districts, and travel experiences around the world.
